Stream Clean 2019

April 7, 2019

We lucked out with a beautiful day for the annual Girl Scout Stream clean effort.

Megan, Bridget, Johanna and I donned our boots and gloves, grabbed our trash bags and trudged into the section of Herbert's Run after the GS troop.  We spent about an hour or so pulling wrappers and garbage that was twisted among the branches and undergrowth. We were at the back of the group so the easy pickings were removed already and we did a little more of wedged in trash along the stream.

Megan was a warrior and went after whatever she saw. Bridget spent a lot of time trying to find her footing along the bank but was eager to do the work. Johanna loved being able to scale rocks and avoid branches. I think she did more climbing and adventuring than trash removal but she was pretty independent, which allowed Megan and I to get a few bags worth of junk out of our local waterways.

It is a very satisfying event. There is a visual reward for our labor as we see the pile of trash at the end of afternoon.
