Kitties growing up

 Our tiny furry kittens are 6 months old and have gotten much bigger. They are still silly and playful and lovely and fuzzy. They love shoes and will tuck themselves between the piles of pairs in our living room. They look very different and yet are noticeably siblings. Tara and Saoirse make similar expressions and are so soft. Both of them seem to have very flexible hips and shoulders and they can flatten themselves out when they lay down. Saoirse is the floppyiest cat I have ever experienced and kind of reminds me of a ferret in the loose way she hangs and dangles.  

Saoirse is our long hair seal point. Originally we thought she was part Siamese but she is probably a Ragdoll cat. She really likes hair bands and we will regularly see her carrying one in her mouth. She weirdly likes to lay along the litter box in the mudroom but is especially found of open windows. Now that the AC is off and the windows are open that is where we find her most. She tends to avoid being petted if she is on 4 paws but she loves to be snuggled and likes being cradled like a baby. Johanna picks her up all of the time now after being afraid of them at first. Saoirse is very fond of Cobh and right from the beginning would follow her around. As a tiny kitten she would slowly walk near Cobh and if Cobh looked at her she would flatten to the floor and tuck her chin down, as if to say "I'm not a threat". Cobh occasionally hissed at the kittens but usually because they obliviously ran past her . As Saoirse has gotten bigger she has gone up and touched noses with Cobh and there is a general acceptance. Tara still keeps her distance from Cobh most of the time. 

Tara is our mitted tabby. Her paws are bright white as is the ruff on her neck. She has a white belly and a tabby patch in the center. And just opposite she has a funny patch of long white hair on her back and a dash right where her tail starts. She too is amazingly soft and she leans into pets when she is walking around. Tara too likes shoes and is more likely to instigate wrestling matches. Tara is our eager eater and is first to ask for breakfast and dinner. Neither meow much and if they do it is a little squeak, but Tara will let you know she is hungry by rubbing and making figure 8's around your legs. Tara likes to push her nose under area rugs and hide things underneath. Tara also loves to hide along the skirt of the ottoman. Tara is really interested in Leia and the basement. When they are together Tara will keep close tabs on Leia and will follow her. Leia isn't sure about the kittens but seems more scared than territorial. Recently it seems to be shifting to the kittens being more dominate but they are getting better about being near each other.

Both of the kittens regularly seek out a bed to snuggle. They have been good visitors to Megan after her bunion surgery and Saoirse sleeps on Johanna's bed sometimes. They were pretty stinky when we brought them home and Saoirse had to work out some digestive issues. We lovingly called them Stinkies, which turned into McStinkersons. Now that they are bigger they are cleaner and not stinky. Sometimes they get the crazies and run laps and leap off of things chasing each other. They used to be able to run behind the sofa but they have gotten too big to fit. Our kittens are getting so big. They have been a blessing and a really good addition to our house.
