Celebrating Bridget

Feb 15, 2019

It was quite late this year but we didn't want to miss celebrating Bridget.

Bridget wanted a small gathering of friends for a sleepover to celebrate turning 12.  She and Sarah worked together to make invitations and then the 2 of them walked to hand deliver the invitations to Francesca and Ava, who live in the neighborhood. It was a decent walk and it was really cold. They were flushed with the pink cheeks of a mission accomplished when they got back home.

Bridget also asked to get to cook during the party, so her evening consisted of time in and out of the kitchen. They made individual pizzas for dinner and the rest of the sisters enjoyed joining in. After dinner they made the birthday cake. With 4 pre-teen girls in the kitchen I didn't need to anything. They got everything mixed and took turns with different parts. While the cake was in the oven they went to the basement to play games.  These friends make Bridget comfortable and she relaxes and talks and plays and gives directions and listens. It is nice to see.

They all came up and took turns icing the cake, learning that it not as easy as you think it might be. Then we all gathered in the dining room to sing happy birthday. Bridget had picked 3 ice cream flavors to go with her cake, which had turned out quite tasty. After presents the girls went downstairs to set up sleeping bags and play games. They entertained themselves. I just provided Oreos and Cheese-its, Bridget and her friends took it from there.  Bridget is so worth celebrating.
