Rocket launch

May 2017

One of the fun things in 4th grade is the grade wide rocket launch they do each year.

This was a great opportunity to relax and just enjoy something at school.

Each kid got a rocket kit, which they prepped at home, gluing and positioning.

The day of the launch I went up to school. It was a cool day, with light rain. The field was muddy but none of this negatively impacted the launch.

Bridget's class was the first group to go and the scientist from NASA who comes up every year to run the event brought a number of rockets to run as examples. Small groups of kids lined up holding their rockets and after lining them on the lauch stand, moved over the control station. Each child got to launch their rocket and chase it down across the field.

Bridget was all grins at the whoosh of her rocket and she sprinted across the field. She retrieved her rocket and smiled at me before she heading back to her class group to watch the others.

It was a fun light-hearted day.
