First Haircut

before her first haircut

Johanna is full of personality and now she has a haircut to match. Her hair had started to get a little straggly and it was always getting into her food or her mouth, so we had been wanting to get it cut for a while. We decided that a short cut would work best for the summer, so we all headed to the mall, where they had a kid's hair cut place. We had to wait a little while and the three big girls went off to visit a few stores, but Bridget stayed with us. When it was Hanna's turn she climbed into the big chair and settled into to watch the movie "Cars". We decided that she should get shampooed first, so we moved to the sink. Hanna was a little unsettled by laying back on the platform under the elephant with a trunk sprayer but she liked the water and the shampooing. She kept giggling. Jim helped her climb down the shampoo table and she got back into her chair.

Hanna did great in the chair and the stylist worked quickly. Soon her ponytail was cut off and most of Johanna's hair was gone. Johanna could see herself in side mirrors next to the screen and her face fell. She gradually looked sadder and sadder, until a tear rolled down her cheek. She sat very still in the chair and followed directions well. Hanna was rather subdued after her haircut but the lolly pop animated her right back up. She was so well behaved that she got both a red and a green lolly pop.

 

The stylist did a great job and the cut turned out great. We loved it and when we met up with the big sisters they all told her how much they liked the hair cut. Pretty soon Hanna was shaking her head to feel the hair bouncing around. The longer she has had the haircut the more she seems to like it. The cut is so easy and neat.
